1. Will my qualification be SAQA accredited?

Gideon Robert University is fully accredited by the Zambia Higher Education Authority with the registration number HEA/033 (Zambia Higher Education Authority, June 2023). It is officially recognised by SAQA (South African Qualifications Authority) up to NQF Level 10.

Students who have successfully completed their qualification may therefore apply at SAQA for accreditation.

2. May I do my qualification over more than one year?

You are allowed to do your qualification over the duration of more than one year. Once you are registered, you may arrange with your tutor, Dr Venter, for a study schedule that will suit your professional programme.

3. Will I write examinations?

As explained earlier, you will not be required to write examinations. Your assignments will carry a weight, and the sum of the weights will be 100%, which will be your final mark.

4. May I make down-payments on my tuition fee?

You may make downpayments on your tuition fee to Visio Education. Contact Dr Venter to make arrangements. Downpayments of fees owed to GRU are not allowed.

5. Will I be required to purchase textbooks?

All your study material is included in the study fee and no additional books will need to be purchased.

6. How will my practical training be scheduled?

You will be required to attend one workshop with the duration of one day for each practical module. The workshop will be presented online.

7. Will I be able to register as counsellor and establish my own practice?

After successful completion of your qualification, you will be allowed to apply for registration as a Specialist wellness counsellor with the Association for Supportive Counsellors and Holistic Practitioners in South Africa (ASCHP), to provide first line psycho-educational and wellness support. The wellness counsellor may establish an independent practice which must be managed according to the guidelines of the ASCHP.

8. Will I register as a psychologist or psychological counsellor after completion of the qualification?

Registration in the category of Wellness Counsellor (school counselling) at the ASCHP excludes psychotherapeutic work. The scope of work of the school counsellor is wellness training and life coaching, and providing first line socio-educational and wellness support to address social and emotional wellbeing needs of secondary school learners in South Africa.
